Ask Hubert is a conversational AI assistant that streamlines access to IT and HR resources by retrieving relevant answers from ServiceNow and SharePoint. Designed to reduce friction and improve self-service, it helps employees quickly find policies, guides, and company information.

The Prototype
Bringing the Vision to Life

To validate the concept and push the experience further, I built a React + TypeScript prototype showcasing Ask Hubert’s layout, interaction flow, and key UI features.

As a UX leader, I believe hands-on prototyping is a powerful way to shape the product with the level of craft and precision I expect in the final experience. It also allows me to collaborate more effectively with developers—speaking their language, anticipating constraints, and ensuring the design vision is carried through to execution.

This build reflects more than just design skills—it demonstrates my ability to bridge strategy, UX, and technology to deliver tools that move product direction forward.

The Challenges and Approach
The development of Ask Hubert presented several challenges:.
  • Navigating AI in a New Context – AI-powered search was uncharted territory for our enterprise, requiring us to establish trust, governance, and effective training data.
  • Content Quality & Readability – The effectiveness of AI responses depended on well-structured source material. I proposed and developed content standards to improve both user readability and AI parsing accuracy.
  • Security & Compliance Considerations – Ensuring AI-driven responses met corporate security guidelines while delivering relevant information was a critical balancing act.
  • Adopting SAFe Agile – As a team working within a newly implemented SAFe Agile framework, we adapted to incremental development and cross-team collaboration.

My role and Contribution
As UX Lead, I played a pivotal role in shaping the user experience, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and engagement:
  • Branding & Visual Identity – Defined Ask Hubert’s UI, branding, and tone of voice to establish trust and consistency in AI-driven interactions.
  • User Experience Strategy – Designed intuitive workflows that balance AI automation with user control, ensuring a seamless experience.
  • Usability Testing & Iteration – Led usability studies with SUS (System Usability Scale) assessments, continuously refining the experience based on real user feedback.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration & Education – Worked closely with solution architects, engineers, and product owners to embed UX best practices into development. Used this opportunity to educate other teams on scalable UX strategies within the enterprise.
  • Incremental Product Improvements – As part of an agile product team, I contributed to prioritization, planning, and iterative design updates to align with business goals and user needs.
